Hamas did not spare the Israeli Bedouin Muslims

“On October 7 they shot Islam.” Hamas did not spare the Israeli Bedouin Muslims – they killed them, beat them, robbed them and drove their children to Gaza. Report from Channel 12 of Israeli television.

Bedouins once sympathetic to Palestinian cause โ€˜seek vengeanceโ€™ after being targeted during Hamasโ€™ assault on Israel, member says

When Tamer Masudin heard sirens go off in his city of Ramat HaSharon on Saturday morning, he immediately got confused.

Was it Remembrance Day, which honors Israelโ€™s fallen military heroes? No, thatโ€™s in May, he thought.

So the 26-year-old analyst grabbed his phone and was quickly inundated with pictures and videos of Hamasโ€™ shocking early morning sneak attack that has since sparked a war of unimaginable intensity.

Thatโ€™s when his thoughts turned to his brother, Samer. The 18-year-old high school student recently had a liver transplant and was convalescing with family in the city of Sderot, just minutes from the Gaza Strip.

โ€œThe first thing that came to mind was that I have to save my brother,โ€ Masudin told The Post on Thursday.

โ€œThe kid just had a liver transplant, and he was recovering,โ€ he continued. โ€œHe was in no shape to run, let alone hide from people.

Masudin said he worried about his brother โ€” who just had a liver transplant โ€” the second he read that Hamas fired rockets and sent gunmen across the Israeli border Saturday morning.

โ€œI knew that the moment he stepped out of the apartment โ€” if anyone sees him, heโ€™s going to get shot dead,โ€ he said. โ€œHeโ€™ll be gone in, like, a second.โ€

One might think Masudinโ€™s family might be safe โ€” even during such chaos โ€” because they are ethnic Bedouins, a historically nomadic tribe who have wandered the Middle Eastern deserts for thousands of years.

โ€œWeโ€™re traditional Arabs, not very much different than Arabs from the UAE or Saudi Arabia,โ€ he said. โ€œWe speak Arabic as our mother tongue, and all of us are Muslims.โ€

But this attack was different, Masudin said.

Hamasโ€™ rockets never discriminate between Arabs and Jews โ€” they fall where they fall. But the gunmen who raced across the border, butchering and kidnapping as they went, were not particularly discriminating either.

โ€œI saw reports about Hamas terrorists killing Muslims inside of Israel after they infiltrated the border,โ€ he said. โ€œI was terrified the moment I heard the news โ€” extremely terrified.โ€

Especially because Masudinโ€™s family hails from the Bedouin village of Segev Shalom in southern Israel, just an hourโ€™s drive from the border with Gaza.

โ€œAll of my family members โ€” my siblings, my parents, my cousins โ€” all of them live in Segev Shalom,โ€ he said. โ€œAnd some of them are even in the army, or were called into the reserves to serve right now.โ€

But Sderot was hit particularly hard.

Gunmen burst into the city Saturday morning with their automatic rifles blazing, killing civilians and shooting it out with local police units in firefights that consumed the town.

They even captured the local police station before reinforcements from the Israel Defense Forces surrounded it and slaughtered the remaining extremists.

Samer was fortunate, however.

Masudin had called the cops, and the military retrieved Samer โ€” after several worrisome days โ€” and delivered him to his mom in Segev Shalom.

But though Masudinโ€™s family narrowly escaped tragedy, many in the Bedouin community did not.

Acquaintances of his died during the assault, either by bullet or missile. And Hamas kidnapped scores of Bedouins and brought them back to Gaza, he said.

โ€œWe still donโ€™t know their situation: if theyโ€™re alive, if theyโ€™re dead, if theyโ€™re injured,โ€ he said. โ€œAll we know is that on Saturday, around 40 people from my community disappeared and no one can reach them.โ€

But beyond the everyday horror inflicted by the terrorist organization, the attack has poisoned the well for Bedouins who may have had some sympathy for the plight of the Palestinians, who are also Sunni Muslims.

โ€œWhatever made Hamas decide to do this attack basically severed that connection, killed it and buried it deep in the ground,โ€ Masudin said.

โ€œAnd now, my community โ€” besides the fact that they are completely pissed โ€” they seek vengeance on the people who did this,โ€ he said, adding that in his view, Hamas is no better than ISIS.

โ€œNo one can justify how they burn and kill and behead babies in the south of Israel and say, โ€˜Oh yeah, this is our resistance, a fight for liberation,โ€™โ€ he said.

โ€œEven if it was ever a fight for liberation โ€ฆ itโ€™s dead now.โ€
